It’s important to arrive early for your Barge Transfers to the island as there can be unexpected delays and you don’t want to miss that low tide if you are coming over from Rainbow Beach. Plan your trip will and allow plenty of time for possible delays.

The Manta Ray Barge departs from Inskip Point and drops off at Hook Point (the most southern tip of the island). The first barge departs at 6.30am from Rainbow Beach and the last barge at 5pm from Rainbow and 5.15pm from Fraser Island. Although they go back and forth all day and the crossing only takes 15 minutes there can be long waits.

The Fraser Venture and Kingfisher Barge that depart from River Heads are a little more restricting when planning your travels to Fraser Island as this barge only offers limited departure times. It is VERY IMPORTANT to book these barges in advance as they can get very busy. You can check the barge times and make a booking HERE.
